Oh really, this is getting ridiculous: are you seriously suggesting that if someone told a friend or family member they'd just been diagnosed with an STI, the listener/s would think they'd been diagnosed with a motor vehicle?
Conversely, if someone mentions they just purchased a brand new STI, people who know that's a model of Subaru (which I didn't and could care less) ill hardly think they've just paid money for a sexual infection or disease.
Get a grip!
And by the way, I will refine my previous terminology: I'm talking about nasty painful sometimes fatal yukky horrible medical conditions passed on by sexual contact: happy now & on my part, that ends any further pointless childish debate about whether those conditions are infections or diseases.
