That's pretty funny, considering the term vd (venereal disease) hasn't been used for decades. The term STI for Sexually Transmitted Infections superseded STD for Sexually Transmitted Diseases quite a while ago: keep up!
There is no "it", STI is an abbreviation of Sexually Transmitted InfectionS plural, which covers a very wide range of nasty conditions which can be passed via sexual contact. What's more there are new ones emerging, some of which can't yet be treated and some of which have become resistant to medication.
It's irrelevant whether those conditions are called a disease or an infection, using condoms will nearly always provide protection.
Oh, by the way, I'm not a virgin, I don't teach sex ed and the STI abbreviation has been in widespread use for decades at least in Australia. Personally I think "disease" was more accurate than "infection" anyway.
Exactly, you're talking about diseases, not infections. Not sure about australia but most people would laugh at you if you called it an sti in normal conversation. An STI is a model of car made by Subaru.
Oh really, this is getting ridiculous: are you seriously suggesting that if someone told a friend or family member they'd just been diagnosed with an STI, the listener/s would think they'd been diagnosed with a motor vehicle?
Conversely, if someone mentions they just purchased a brand new STI, people who know that's a model of Subaru (which I didn't and could care less) ill hardly think they've just paid money for a sexual infection or disease.
Get a grip!
And by the way, I will refine my previous terminology: I'm talking about nasty painful sometimes fatal yukky horrible medical conditions passed on by sexual contact: happy now & on my part, that ends any further pointless childish debate about whether those conditions are infections or diseases.
iin i think condoms are pointless

Nobody calls it an sti except for virgins teaching baby school sex ed. It's a disease not an infection.

The point stand, you sound like a dick if you say sti to describe a venerial disease, that's all I'm saying.
