Is it normal i speak like a 3y/o to my parents at 22

I'm a 22 year old female that is very intelligent and also have good relationships with those close to me. The thing is, with my parents I speak like a 3 year old everyday in terms of speech, word choice and innocence. For example I might say "I'm weeli ty" meaning "I'm really tired" ... "I'm hungeee" meaning "I'm hungry" .... "where mommy?" meaning "where's Mom". Is this normal? I really want to stop but it's a habit and I feel safe when I do it :( no one knows about this I'm so ashamed of it .... (Please NO negative comments)

Is this the only way you talk to your parents or is it only sometimes? If it's only once in a while it isn't necessarily a big deal, but if it's constant it could make it hard for your parents to respect your autonomy as an adult.

Since it's a habit I think you can only break it with practice.

I agree with the Pokemon. You have to break the habit or else it'll stay. Have your parents ever looked at you funny? I know some teens still do it but not all the time...

      • Lol at "I agree with the Pokemon". They know this is part of me. I speak like it 60% of the time to them. Habits are hard to break, but I'm definitely working on it. It's weird because I'm so intelligent and mature when I'm not with them. I am an only child though so I'm used to all their attention and being babied. Time to grow up, thanks your comments guys.

It's not as bad as you think though. My best friend used to do the same (20) whenever she was hungry (hungeee) or sleepy( sleepysleepy). Its really adorable and I took very good care of her. Normally just when she was tired I think

          • Yeah. It's worse when I'm tired or have just woken up. Time to break a habit of a lifetime

at some point you are just going to have to say fuck it , they are not all that special that they need a special vocabulary for communication .
