She's right. You need to do some research on dog behavior. They are trainable animals, and usually only misbehave if poorly trained, unless they have some type of behavioral problem due to abuse.
The majority of dogs that behave badly do so because the owner has failed to train them properly. It's your job as an owner to be educated...to learn proper training techniques, and to take the dog to trainer if you can't handle it. You can't always blame the bad behavior on the dog, as they are often reacting to your cues, or lack there of.
Most of the time, the problem is not the dog....because it is just doing dog things and responding in dog ways...it's being a dog basically, and dogs don't always understand human commands and language- that's why you need to educate yourself and adjust the way you interact.
Having said that, not everyone is cut out to be a dog owner. They aren't really self sufficient pets; they need attention and discipline, and you need to be educated in training techniques so the dog doesn't misbehave and take over the household. You need to either proactively educate yourself on how to deal with your pet, or give it to someone who can deal with it in a more constructive way.
Just because you don't know how to work with dogs doesn't mean you should hate your dog for...well...being a dog.
I know lol...that's 90% of all our comments here...but this one is cause PUPPIES! Cute, roly poly, wet nosed, lolling tongue, soft eyed, ball chasing, bacon eyeing, burglar biting, cute mother fuckers...so it's worth it : D
I have actually been watching dog training vids and got a clicker for training. I know it's not the dogs fault that he isn't trained but I feel like I got stuck with this dog. Thanks for writing usable advice rather than telling me how stupid I am :)
IIN I sometimes want to kick my dog ?
