you're putting aside the person's feelings though. Just because something shouldn't bother someone doesn't mean it doesn't.
I agree it's irrational but whether the pain you feel is caused by something real, or is just in your mind doesn't change the fact that it still hurts.
When you're in a relationship with someone you learn about their weird quirks and you try to compromise with them, and they in turn try to compromise on your quirks that's part of a relationship.
