Its not just with a romantic partner either.
I rarely use the term "I love you", because its a special feeling and I'll always ask myself before telling a friend this, do I feel love towards them? Majority of girls in particular throw this loosely around with their girl mates. I find that a really immature thing to do because I only say it when I mean it. Love is a feeling too, whether it be with family or friends.
Before telling someone, I usually ask myself 3 things;

Do I feel warmth towards them?

Would I do anything for them?

Is this just a temporary in the moment feeling?

is it normal I'm so analytical about love like this?

    Of course you shouldnt just throw it around carelessly

    Thats why friendships and relationships are special. Because you took the time to know someone

    So they deserved to be loved by you :)

    Of course you can love everyone just as fellow humans beings though

        I think everyone at some point is analytical about the way they feel and whether it's love or not. Most people it seems though throw the word around carelessly.
        I think it is going above and beyond to make a conscientious effort to hold back so that you mean what you say and only say what you mean. That or you hold love sacred as it revolves around your way of life or makes up a great deal of your core. It seems normal to me, I do the same.
