Is it normal i'm weirded out by transgenderism?

I should start out by saying I have nothing against transgender people, and I think they should be allowed in the military. With that being said, however, the concept itself has never made any sense to me. I can't fathom why on earth anyone would want to be a different gender, and as a guy who's very protective over his private parts, the idea of someone willingly giving them up is baffling and disturbing to me. I know I'm gonna get a bunch of PC leftist calling me a bigot but I don't care. I'm sure there's plenty of things about me that others don't understand, but I just want to get more perspective of why people think like this. Remember: not understanding doesn't equal hatred.

I agree that not understanding doesn't equal hatred, and I'm tired of people not getting that concept. I'm not trans but I am a gay man. You don't have to understand me, you don't have to like the thought of homosexuality, or kiss my ass just to look virtuous. All you have to do is respect me, and that is enough.

With trans people though, it's a matter of brain chemistry for a lot of them. Brain scans have shown that transwomen (born male physically but transition to female) have more grey matter in the brain than other biological males, more like that of a female. Transmen (born women) also have more similar brain structures to biological males than females. The brain differences leads to a disconnect called "Gender Dysphoria", where the afflicted feels discomfort, distress or even outright shock that their body doesn't match their brain chemistry. As a result, many seek to "transition", which is going through measures to reverse their natural secondary sex characteristics and develop those of the opposite sex. This can help alleviate the gender dysphoria, especially if they're successful to a degree where they pass easily as the opposite sex.

It's probably caused by pregnancy hormone imbalances (which I also think causes homosexuality, personally).

Also what's adding to the confusion over the last few years, is that it's now fashionable for anyone with any amount of gender nonconformity to claim "trans".

You have stupid teen girls who think that simply having short blue hair and wearing black lipstick makes them "trans", or a "third gender". Being trans is deeper than that, it's not a jolly "exploration" of gender expression. It's an incredibly harrowing medical condition that drives thousands of people to suicide every year, and it's damn shitty to co-opt that just to be a hipster.

They change because they are disgusted by their birth gender or they enjoy being the other gender more than their sex. Or because they want to... Perhaps they just like girls or boys better. I mean, it's not like it's something they can do unintentionally; they decide it.
With some people it is a fetish but obviously that wouldn't last long without the sex hormones they were born with.

What causes homoseuxality in my opinion is porn.

Porn has a way of changing the perspective of how people see reality.

If porn was eliminated, you would see a good decrease of homosexuality, fetishes, and possibly even rape.

Chemicals in our environment are the cause for the increase of trannies.

Our society is literally poisoned with negative influences. We need to change this for ourselves to help us, so we can get rid of these bad things.

Cause there aint no way im pretending normalizing mental illness is a good thing. Im not supporting this tranny bullshit

You know how you feel completely certain that the gender you are in your head is what it is? Same goes for transgender people, with the only difference being that their gender doesn't happen to coincide with their biological sex. What's hard to understand about that?

"I can't fathom why on earth anyone would want to be a different gender." That's it right there. That same conviction, that certainty that you wouldn't want to be anything other than your own gender -- that's exactly it. That's the reason trans people endure the pain, the humiliation, the suffering, the loss of rights, family members, jobs, housing, dignity, the violence. Nobody would voluntarily choose that. Because the choice is between all of that and living in the wrong gender. (Or, unfortunately, for far too many trans people, not having any livable choice at all.)

Normal. Transgender people are weirded out by being the gender they were born into. You are sharing their estrangement and alienation. Responding with hostility is cruel and ignorant. But weirdness begets more weirdness.

I don't think PC leftists would attack you for this. You're opening a dialog. I think it's pretty much okay to talk about things. I'm not trans myself but I imagine it's very much like the conversation you have with an identical twin and ask, "What's it like to be an identical twin?" and they respond, "What's it like not to be one?"

It's a question of identity and the worth people put on identity.

Like, for me, I've always had effeminate traits but I know that i'm wholly male. To someone else, those effimante traits may blossom into something more, people can explore that and really find themselves comfortable in that mentality/lifestyle. And when you become mentally assured of something, often the emotional follows. The transgender people I've met are psychoanalytical of their identity, they feircely inhabit it. When you have that kind of conviction you can understand how someone would alter genitalia etc.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I've never understood it, the only logic I find in it tends to piss people off.

For example, I'm certain trans people are trans primarily because the opposite sex they want to imitate has better cultural and sociatal things that appeals to them, such as clothing, make up, no make up, behaviours, etc.

There is a lot of evidence that being trans is biological (not in every case, but brain differences have been found and higher incidence in identical twins vs fraternal/other siblings).

Also, not all trans people want to transition either at all or just not outwardly.

And...body dysmorphia is a very, very real thing. It's not just 'hmm, I wish I looked different'...it's an extreme condition that profoundly affects your life.

      • JewluminatiTits

Gender dysmorphia was called gender identity disorder and was labeled as a mental illness up until very recently which is the correct label for this condition. Transgenderism is not biological. I personally don't really care what they do with their own life but I don't think we should play along with dilution and say yup you're right. Your a girl.

The way I see it is, why bother being a dick? You say you don't care so why not just call them by the name they present themself as and move along? You can believe whatever you want but give others basic human respect. Put simply, it doesn't hurt you or anyone else to address someone as they want...but it definitely can hurt people if you refuse that basic courtesy. Why make someone's life worse when you could just smile, nod and move along and not make a big deal out of it?

In my opinion they are the people making a big deal out of it if they actually care what people call them. If they get all pissy if people call then the wrong gender then I feel like they are the people making a big deal. Also, sometimes it's hard to tell what these people even want to be called and sometimes asking them is considered rude. There is no way to get through a conversation with them without someone being offended.

Uh, most people care how you address them. It's not unique to trans people.

I agree that flipping out if you make an honest mistake or expecting you to read their mind is not cool but again, this behavior is not unique to trans people.

Why are you having so many interactions with trans people, anyway? Are you seeking them out? That doesn't seem normal, especially for a guy who 'doesn't care'. Are you just making up these supposed multiple interactions or...are you trolling trans people...or what?

              Comment Hidden ( show )
      • I won't pretend I know everything about the subject, I just find it weird how it mainly revolves around being perceived the opposite sex when it's supposed to be a biological sense.

Maybe it's because I'm skeptical about the amount of people claiming to have the biological aspect of trans instead of just wanting the social perception of being the opposite sex without actually having the biological aspect.

Don't get me wrong, not saying there's anything wrong with people wanting to adopt the female societal styles and mannerisms but I find it a bit iffy when such people claim to have the biological difference when it's motivated by other influences, be it upbringing, political stances, ideology, etc. Lol.

I don't know the extent to which I believe upbringing and political ideology can turn someone LGBT.

You can find LGBT people in families across the political spectrum, and born into all kinds of backgrounds. I was born into a stable middle class Catholic home, with both a mother and a father who had moderate-conservative views, and I turned out gay. I've seen it all in other LGBT people I've met over the years, everything from the "stereotypical" gay raised by a single mom, to closeted LGBT people scared shitless because their families were conservative orthodox Muslims. Part of the high suicide rate with transgender people is because they're often not accepted by their families.

The only time I think it's politics is when you're talking about the stupid unicorn plum faerie Tumblrinas claiming stupidly nuanced genders. Those kind of people are always pretty far-Leftists, and them jumping on the bandwagon typically does say more about their politics than their actual life situation. They're all fourth-wave feminists.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
            -
          • Definetly. I'm not saying that someone can only be LGBT through influence, just saying that I do believe that there are people influenced into it aswell. Like, certain parents raising their child as the opposite sex rather than letting them grow up and decide for themselves, and certain aspects of SJW communities influencing, like the fourth wave-feminists you mentioned. :)

I don't think it's any different than how non-trans people want to appear. Most people want to appear as they feel inside. You could probably empathise with a bio male who had unwanted large breast tissue...or a man who lost his penis in an accident...or a female who had thick unwanted facial hair. Now imagine it's your whole body that is 'wrong'. And it's not just to appear a certain way, it's how you feel, how you get treated, your personal happiness, mental health, etc.

There have been people raised as one gender but were actually the opposite. David Reimer is probably the most famous example (born male, lost penis as a baby, raised female) and it did not work out well for him. The psychologist who treated him was sure gender was all nurture and raising him female would be fine. It wasn't. His ordeal has spurred change in how cases like his are handled.

I think more liberal people are just more open anx accepting which is why you might think there are more LGBTQ people from such backgrounds/affiliations. Left/liberal politics is also the most concerned and progressive with LGBTQ rights. No mystery why an LGBTQ person might align themselves with that side. Religious/conservatives are generally less accepting and some are outright hateful of anybody who is different. This group is also typically against LGBTQ rights, or if not outright against them they are usually not 'pro', meaning they aren't actively helping progress and hinder progress by voting in officials who are not progressive in that regard because it's not seen as important to them. If you're LGBTQ, you'll probably either leave the group or stay in the closet, hence why you won't see as many.

And the reason they want to change so badly, (and this affects girls more) is because of artificial hormones being released into the environment, on things like cans, and the artificial hormone is fake estrogen.

Estrogen is naturally found in girls, but this artificial estrogen is called BPA.

Its sprayed on cans on other things. You'll notice this if you ever buy something that say "BPA-Free"

Like what is this chemical in the first place, and why are our things now coming in BPA-Free something thats never been heard of before.

I'm having trouble understanding it as well.

I can somewhat get why women want to be a man; you guys are basically free in society; you don't have to worry about shelf-life, have many opportunities, and you're not judged as harshly as women are for small things like hair and clothes. On top of that, you can make friends with other guys super easily with no sexual tension in the mix. That, and no periods and shit; the list goes on. However, guys becoming women feels like drawing a target on you; not because trans people are frowned upon, but because being a woman is to live in constant worry, especially at night. It's annoying. I never once walked around at night somewhere without being scared of every shadow unless I was accompanied by a guy. Honestly, I get envious when guys tell stories of dumb shit they did when drunk or high, waking up with shit drawn on their face or on some park bench where his friends left him; but as a woman everything would end in rape/groped, or murdered (as dramatic as that sounds lol); I can't afford to let loose and have stupid fun.
