Is it normal i'm obsessed with the 1970s even though i wasn't around then?

I was born in 1999, but it seems like a lot of things I'm a fan of either came out or were popular in the 1970s. I like music like the solo careers of all The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, and so on. Tv shows like Happy Days, Three's Company, Classic Doctor Who, Monty Python's Flying Circus, All in the Family, and the carol burnett show (literally the funniest show I've ever seen! Especially when Tim Conway is in it!) and of course there's movies like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Star Wars (it would be a crime if I didn't bring it up!) and there were countless iconic horror films. Johnny Got His Gun, Last House on the left, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Black Christmas, Jaws, Salo, The Omen, Halloween, Alien, and that's not even to mention the Grind House movies. There were also a lot of movies with Olivia Hussey who I admit I'm infatuated with. This is only the media from the time, i don't know what living back then was like, and I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy not having internet, but if I were born then I would've never even had a concept of it. Even though I wasn't around, i feel old when I realize how long ago it was. Seriously, in less than 3 years, the decade would've started 50 years ago! I like the 2010s, but I don't think we'll ever experience something like the 70s again, i wish I could time travel back at least for one day.

Is It Normal?

  • Being into '70s things now is better than being in the actual '70s was. The media is all still around for you to see and hear and you didn't miss much else.

  • The 70s seemed like the greatest decade to live in for multiple reasons.

1: Had just the right amount of technology. Not too much, not too little. Videogames and computers hadn't yet hit hard which is a good thing.

2: The music was some of the best to ever grace mankind. After all, This was before MTV killed the radio star.

3: Movies were freaking amazing. The Godfather, Star Wars, Alien, just to name a few.

4: The fashion styles were really cool. Not stupid like the fashion of the 80s or bland like the fashion of the 90s.

5: Cars looked really badass. Much cooler than the crap from the 80s and forward.

6: Aids wasn't yet discovered, meaning you wouldn't feel as bad sleeping around.

    7: Girls went bra-less.

8: CDs hadn't been invented yet, which is good since vinyl is just the far superior format.

9: No rap music, which is good because rap is f***ing awful.

10: Sweden was still swedish and our welfare peaked during this decade. The whole world envied us. Now we're a muslim s**thole that everyone is laughing at. Feels bad man.

  • I think it's pretty cool.
At least the 70's were much better than now with all this rap crap and other shit. Although I was actually born in 1991, I wish i can just go back in time....

  • Yes, it is normal. Arnold Schwarzenegger was winning Mr Olympia and making great movies at the time. Great times!
