Is it normal i'm finding it hard to make friends in my first year of college ?

I just started college last month and I've been finding it really hard to make friends. I have a few friends but it's really hard trying to stay in touch with them.
What kind of things should I do to keep friends around?

It took me the whole first semester to actually find my friends that lasted all four years. It takes a while to find your people. so my advice is just to talk to as many people as you can and add people on facebook. Don't be afraid to ask people what theyre doing on the weekends, or something as simple as wanna grab food after class?

I'm a senior now and I really wish I wasn't so afraid to talk to people when I was younger because i didn't make as many connections as I would've liked to

I understand you it can feel lonely sometimes. I'm in college too but I am not as social as I use to be when I first started. It can get pretty lonely. This is mostly because I don't try making friends anymore.

But just try to strike a conversation with a classmate, talk about something relating to the class like the professor or an assignment. Don't try too hard you don't wanna seem to desperate or make yourself seem awkward. Keep the convo short then the next day try to make a full convo. Baby steps.

I'm no expert but that usually works for me when I actually try.

make new friends , thats what life is all about. Try 13 schools before college like i did. you learn anyone can be a friend.

Well, it takes time to make friends at a new school. Plus... this isn't your first year... it's your first semester. You'll have at least 1 friend a year from now, so don't worry so much, and just enjoy your new school.

That's normal. You still have years left. The only thing I can suggest is to get involved in activities you enjoy if you haven't already.
