Is it normal i'm a woman and don't do anything to my eyebrows?

I'm a woman and don't do anything to my eyebrows. No plucking, waxing, threading, or anything else. I have normal looking, thinner eyebrows as is so I've never really felt the need to do it.

Even if you had a monobrow, it's your face and you should do whatever feels best for you.

Plus, eyebrow tidying hurts like a motherfucker.

There was a boy in my school who had a monobrow that everyone would laugh at. I remember one day I walked past a ruckus in a classroom with a group of kids all piling on each-other in a corner, it turned out they had held him down whilst a popular girl had plucked his monobrow off, it was the most bizarre form of bullying I’ve ever witnessed.

Anyway no punishments were issued and he had one eyebrow again in a week.

I think my school did have an unusually high concentration of disturbed adolescents, but Australia does strike me as a more relaxed country (even though I’m sadly yet to go there).

To confirm she only removed the hairs between his eyes, but it was still a messed up thing to do.

So messed up. It's assault. Idk how that was overlooked:/

Oh boy there was a LOT of assault in that school, as in multiple incidents a day at its peak. The teachers really didn’t give a shit, they just turned a blind eye or victim blamed. It was customary to sit on an exercise book in the science lab as the seats had holes in the middle and certain students would creep up behind you and jab scissors up the hole. They would poke holes in rulers and stick pins through them to make a sort of spiked club then sneak around the class attempting to stab people with it. Compasses made good weapons too. And the teachers, of course, did nothing. Out of the classroom it was more brawl style fighting and unarmed assaults.

Only recently at 24 I was talking to a friend about how I would be attacked and assaulted at school expecting her to relate and she was confused and a bit horrified, I had always assumed it was normal until then. I wasn’t even a “bullied kid” I would just happen to be in their line of sight or path of destruction sometimes.

As I said though that school did have an unusually high number of problem children and isn’t representative of UK schools as a whole.

Perfectly normal. I don't either. In fact, I don't even wear makeup. I have no interest in that sort of thing. As long as I stay within the law of whatever country I choose to live in, I live life by my rules not society's.

Yeah I mean if you’re happy with how your eyebrows look then you’re fine. Plenty of women don’t pluck their eyebrows. I pluck my eyebrows once a week because they are quite bushy and stray hairs tend to grow. But if you are not having a problem with them then no I don’t see a reason for you to mess with them.

I am big on personal grooming and I genuinely feel that a more natural brow is attractive. I don't particularly like a monobrow, but I think overly perfect/exact lines and curves look a bit weird. It's more flattering to see the natural hair line of the brow, strays included.

Yeah I started doing that when I was 16-17 which is quite late really but now I could never stop tending to them, nice eyebrows do a lot for your overall apperance like they can change your whole face. There's this girl in my town that I was friends with as a kid and she's always gotten bullied for not doing her eyebrows. People really take eyebrows seriously. I never pluck my eyebrows personally just use a nail scissor to cut off long strands and lay it flat against my skin to cut off tiny stray hairs and it works. Plucking is painful.

Sure, it's your face, and you prerogative whether you choose to groom your eyebrows, or not!

You're normal. I stopped getting my eyebrows done years ago. It felt like a waste of time and money.

I actually think that natural eyebrows almost always look better than fake ones

This is normal. People are comfortable just the way they look, and that's ok.

For one, you're not obligated to do anything just because you're a woman. So that detail wasn't necessarily relevant. That said, I see where you're coming from as it's more commonly women who groom their eyebrows and I get why you mentioned it since this site is about norms.

Honestly it kind of sounds like there's not really anything to do anyway. If your eyebrows already look a lot like what you might would try to achieve if they didn't, you'll probably benefit more from having a perfectly natural look on top of that than taking it further. You'll save yourself a lot of time and pain as well. If you want to experiment and something is holding you back, however, definitely go for it and have fun.

    • I'm not, it's not about empowerment, it's just that my eyebrows look normal as is.
