Is it normal i loathe soft spoken voices?

I find soft spoken voices that are usually described as "soothing" or sometimes even "sexy" to be absolutely grating. Bonus points if they're mumbly, slightly grainy/raspy, or high pitched and sound like a child.

A prime example is Dallas from Beavis and Butt-head Do America. Also, many ASMR mumbly voices. An even more prime example is Karen from the Town's Inn episode of Hotel Hell.

It probably has something to do with the fact that pretty much every person I've met with a soft spoken voice like this has always had an equally grating personality, and usually become even more soft spoken when they're trying to be condescending, or trying to manipulate someone or act like a whiny victim and garner sympathy and attention.

My attention seeking, whiny victim, hypochondriac of a stepmom comes to mind. She already has an annoying soft spoken voice, but when she "isn't feeling good" (which is all the time; she is a freeloader) and wants to lay on her fat ass all day instead of going to work like a normal person, she gets even more annoyingly soft spoken, almost like a child.

Honestly, I think Fred's voice is less annoying than these types of voices.

I hate loud people who share their personal conversations with everyone in the vicinity.

    • I agree, I don't like loud, either, but I can't stand too soft spoken. There's something about the way a really soft spoken voice sounds that grates on my ears and nerves.

Another prime example is Billie Eilish. I fail to see why her mumbling and barely moving her lips is so vastly popular.

    Low talkers blech.

  • I don’t either, just because I can’t understand what they say at times.

Sometimes I get the urge to slap them across their face.

People who talk like that can just be very shy and lacking in self confidence; they believe nobody cares what they think, so what's the point in trying to be heard?

Or they could be playing the role of such a person or mimicking a child for manipulative reasons.

But it can also be a strange sort of aggression, where the speaker is forcing the listener to work hard at concentrating in order to understand what's being said.

In any case, I agree that it can be an exasperating trait.

I speak in a soft voice at work. Combined with a smile, it seems to make the more belligerent customers calm down and apologize for acting like jerks. Its seems to have caused my coworkers to ditch these customers on me. Lol

Sounds exactly like my mom. I got an idea you come and kill my mom then I'll go and kill yours. It's the perfect crime. Bet the cops will never catch us

Ikr! Bet you'll never guess where I got the inspiration.

The song series mother lover. Straight up love those songs. Honestly between my crazy imagination and how stupid stuff makes me think if whole whatevers not even related expect by like a strand of hair combined with my intoxicating wild dreams I'm seriously considering writing. I think it would be fun. But I think I'm to insecure to try it

Never heard of it. I'll look it up. Ill probably just write erotic stories honestly. I don't got it in me to write anything elaborate worth reading and I'm a total book snob lole it has to be at least 300 pages or I probably wont even consider the book.

I speak pretty quietly and soft I don't know if its because i'm shy/anxious because same with people i'm comfortable with too. Can't really help it it's just my voice if I try to push it i'll hurt my throat. People tend to like it though they think i'm a chill person and relaxing to be around so I don't have anything against it since it's never had negative effect on my relationship to other people.

    • To me, it's not so much quiet as it is almost mumbly and sometimes even childlike that bothers me. It's hard to explain exactly.

    • I never said it did, but it seems to go hand in hand, which is probably why I find it annoying in general now.

I also just can't stand the sound of a voice like that. Either speak up or don't speak to me at all. I have no interest in listening to mumbling baby talk.
