Is it normal i liked reading as a kid and teen?

I don’t know why people generally didn’t like to read at a young age. Even I disliked it for a time, but once I read Harry Potter I got hooked and now at age 18 I’m plotting out my own book series. I even remember getting made fun of by some of my peers as a tween and early teen for liking to read, it seemed the kids only liked reading whatever was popular , but enjoying the activity of reading in general was looked down upon. Nowadays no one seems to care anymore, but when I look back on this I just feel confused.

You're normal, while they are just plain stupid and lame. People who openly go around saying they don't like to read are basically just jealous, insecure losers of lower intelligence. Those sort of people aren't worthy of your time.

Lots of teens think that having an intelligent and inquiring mind just isn't cool. My teen years started nearly half a century ago, and even then, "bookworm" was never used in a positive way.

I guess it's because, at that age, fitting in with the herd is what most kids are worried about, so everyone sinks to the lowest common denominator. Maybe it's also about reading being associated with school which is the uncoolest thing that ever existed.

I have read several 1,000+ page books since middle school. Completely normal.
