Is it normal i just want my friend to tell me it's okay to love him?

I've known my friend for a year. As the title implies, I love him. Not romantically. I have told him before and he replied that he did care about me, but didn't say he loved me back. It's understandable. However, I just want him to say it's okay to love him or that he accepts my love. He's not obligated to love me back, but I just want him to accept my love. I don't want to feel like it's wrong or he's rejecting it.

He probably does accept your love based on the fact that he’s still your friend and said he cares about you after you told him. If you want him to explicitly say it, just ask him.

You are going to lose this guy if you push him .
He already said he cares for you .
Let it go be happy .

Sounds like both of you are hung up on semantics.

Does he know you don't mean it in a gay way? I platonically love some of my friends too, but if one of them was to say it to me then I would be a tad confused wondering what the context was, and maybe even be hesitant to say it back in case I got it wrong and led them on.
