I've seen it, that's why I said he isn't half as stupid as he pretends to be. But smarter than 95% I think is an overstatement. I think he's pretty average in terms of intelligence. That's not a bad thing, and now that I think about it, average intelligence might just be enough to be smarter than 95% of the people that post here. So maybe you're right after all.

It has always felt more getto than southern to me. Is it supposed to be southern? If it is than I think it is a poor job. I am from the south and I don't know anyone who speaks quite like that, and no one who writes that way. When people ask him about it he always says he doesn't take this place too serious. But I think if you create a character, that is taking it way too serious.
But I don't think many people would associate his style of writing with intelligence, so if he doesn't really speak that way, I would say he is pretending to be stupid as part of his act. Or at least giving the appearance he is dumber than he is.

Hahaha. Well that's fair enough. I think he's playing with people's tendency to stereotype, which in my opinion makes him smart enough to include subversive social commentary in his caricature.
But, ya, he's supposed to be a coal miner with pet possums and a truck and a dawg, from some unspecified area below the Mason-Dixon Line.

I have to disagree. His "character" just plays on people's misconceptions and stereotypes - and it sorta doubles as a way to weed out those who are quick to judge a comment based on assumptions rather than content...and he is smarter than most people here...the content of his comments show that; he's just not in your face about it....and he has a good sense of humor.
