If no one in your life is willing to make that day special, then I would suggest that you make that day special yourself. Go out - get wasted, treat yourself to a gift that you normally wouldn't buy yourself, slowly erasing the bad birthday memories that you had in the past.
Agreed. The people i know who care about their birthdays usually plan their own party and treat themselves special. No one cares about birthdays anymore. Now they're about loving yourself for one day out of the year, should you feel inclined to do so.
