Because that’s the issue 99% of the time in that aspect of mental health. It’s distorted thinking making them draw the conclusion that everyone else is wrong/doing wrong when it’s themselves who are going about everything wrong.
People on that spectrum are beyond notorious for thinking everyone else is the problem and not helping them.
If OP’s issues cause them to see others as not helping, then obviously the others weren’t helping, since OP wouldn’t have the issues anymore if they did help.
It’s not distorted thinking if they’re right, which they are 99% of the time. Children “going about everything wrong” isn’t a thing. The adults in their life are the ones who are responsible for making sure the child get the help they need. This is like a kid breaking their leg, their parents telling them to walk it off, and then blaming the kid for the lifetime of leg problems when it doesn’t heal right.

Actually that’s completely incorrect. The issues in disorders can, and often do, cause the person to perceive people and events wrongly.
Specifically, the “nobody helps, nobody cares” when in fact they do, is one of the most common delusions/misinterpretations/excuses amongst many disorders.
If they weren’t thinking in distorted ways, they wouldn’t have a disorder in the first place lol.
Nope. If somebody helps them, then they wouldn’t have the disorder anymore, so they wouldn’t perceive people as not helping anymore. If they still have the disorder and still think people aren’t helping, then obviously they didn’t get the help they needed.
There certainly can be situations where somebody is trying to help and are unsuccessful, but again, OP described what happened to them as children - not only were the adults not attempting to help, they were actively making things significantly worse.
I know the “they didn’t REALLY want help” excuse is popular among lazy people who want to abdicate their responsibilities, but it’s not actually a thing. Adults are responsible for doing whatever it takes to help children in their care that need help.
Notorious? I don't see anything worth noting about these nutjobs! Autism is famous for acting like an ass deliberately, because of a bad situation and to lighten the mood, but if the whole world turned silly that would be madness!
They get diagnosed because they're behaving silly, the doctors think they're crazy, it's called a mental disorder for a reason.
You can't medicate them but you medicate them anyway, everything you thought a person can't do they do it, that's how people are successful, even though they're successful in a neurotic way.
