Like I said, I only go one a year so my experience is minimal. But I am pretty easy going. Lots of services don't face you while getting them. Almost all doctors look at a specific body part. Even the dentist is honed on on your mouth but the rest of your face is ignored. And a massage therapist hardly ever talks to your face. I don't think it's the salon specifically as they are pretty personal choices to begin with. Depending on your hair, it can be rather helpful to get a perspective that can be difficult to obtain with your own self. But if you don't require it, you don't require it. But it is done out of stubborn avoidance of the situation, or because you would choose that style regardless of how you get to it?
IIN I hate barbers/salons?
