I had a pretty shitty family too, but I dont feel this way because I necessarily resent people who grew up in a better living situation, its just like the overkill in terms of the only relationships that matter are family ones. or somehow you have the closest people to you should be related to you no matter how shitty they are you have to love them. Basically the kind of family structure built by friendless people who had a kid and now their social circle doesn't exist outside of home.
It's not resentment, it's actually thinking you deserve to be treated like crap and when someone finally treats you decently or overlooks your minor flaws but still loves you, at first you resist...it seems so stupid! You can even still think it's a bit stupid and just accept it and it's nice to have people who have your back.
