Is it normal i got in trouble for using this term?

I said of color referring to relation between the races. My understanding is that the term means anyone not considered white. At least that's according to my history teacher. Under that idea I guess I would be under that term. However I thought that term made the most sense since that is what we are. Yet it's okay to say black, yellow, red, brown. Does that mean that's racist too? Because they have brown and black pride stickers. Brown is Hispanic and black is African American.

Well, Black is not necessarily African-American. I know a couple people who are very black and they and their families are not from Africa. One of them is from Trinidad. Another is from Jamaica. So the fact that everyone assumes Black people are African-American is actually racist because you are assuming their heritage purely based on the color of their skin. The term Black however is not racist, you are not judging them just by saying black, skin color is a very good way to describe and identify people, not to judge them.

Why does skin color still make people like this... skin color. Basically the same as hair color and eye color
