Is it normal i dreamed about robbery & that night armed robbery happened (not me)?

I rarely remember my dreams. Maybe I just rarely have them though, I'm not sure.

Anyway, last night I was having a dream, right before I woke up, that involved accidentally leaving the doors to an expensive party venue/restaurant wide open. Like with many dreams, I didn't exactly understand what was going on but I remember that in the dream, I was freaking out because the doors were clearly open when they shouldn't have been and robbery could or possibly already had occurred in that building.

My alarm rang at 6:00AM and the dream must have been only a short time before that. So I woke up with my alarm (my phone) and I noticed that on my phone, I had a text-alert that in my previous city, an armed robbery happened at 2:30AM. I had forgotten that I had even been enrolled in the text-alert system (it was produced by the police in that city to tell people about crimes.)

Is it normal to dream about an event and then it had recently happened that same night?

Are you sure you didn't have the radio on and heard about it in your sleep? I usually fall asleep listening to the radio and have often thought I'd dreamt something which it turned out I'd heard in my sleep. Then there's the association issue where people dream there's a fire and wake up to the fire or smoke alarm they'd heard in their sleep and that created the dream.

It's all entirely normal: anything factual anyone dreams about is sure to happen in the real world eventually. It's coincidence: consider the number of dreams you have that either don't make any sense or have nothing to with anything real.

That said, I still can't work out why not long ago I dreamed that an old barn down the road fell down and a week later it did in fact fall collapse in high winds. If I am psychic enough to have dreams predicting the future, I wish they'd tell me more useful things than that, like winning lotto numbers to give only one example.

In my long life (I'm 70) I can only recall two or maybe three dreams which had some content which later happened: that's a very small proportion of the number of dreams I've dreamt and I put it down to coincidence.

    • No, I did not have a radio on, but I can see how that could happen. Thank you for answering.

It's probably just extremely coincidental. Or maybe you're a psychic.

I think it's normal, you're not the first person to dream about something before or during an event. Dreams are a mystery because of stuff like this, even scientists still don't know why we dream. I personally know how you feel something similar happened to me, but I guess we can do is brag that we're psychic. (> U <)

theory has it the creator programed us in a digital computer. that our universe is a simulation. you can find hundreds of videos to watch on the topic. in a simulated world a dream would just be you accessing a file generated for you. as entertainment for the programmer. begin simulation and the creator has spoken us into being. why would i believe we are a simulation ? because no one can tell or explain why the speed of light is a constant unless its just the operational speed of the computer's hardware. the speed of light is the digital refresh or frame rate of the computer . In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth = the hardware and the software. let there be light = motion , frame rates movement time heat. its all there for us to discover.

It doesn’t sound religious. It’s just a theory. A nerdy one, but interesting to think about!

And just who or what would that "creator" be?
