  • A toilet in your house is different than a toilet in a public place.

In your house you know who's been there. Not only that, but when you're home usually there's only one toilet and so you're alone. Unless, of-course, the men in your house gather in the bathroom frequently enough to listen to you use it daily. And even if they did, it's still different than a male stranger.

In a public place they are separate because the genders are different and they are strangers to you. Some are OK with using the toilet in-front of a stranger of an opposite gender. Others want more privacy, and making it gender specific is as private as you can get outside of your house.

      • Reallyyyy?? Well, shoot, I was leaving the door open all these years. Now that I know what stalls are for I'll close it next time.

        • Exactly that's the reason why your previous post makes no sense.

          • I don't know if you know this, but stalls are different from a room. And there is more to privacy than the inclosed area one takes a dump in. Thus gender specific bathrooms.
