Is it normal i don't ever want to drive?

The idea of being in control of a metal death machine is scary to me. All my friends can drive and offer to teach me but I don't want to. Just being a passenger I notice how terrible other drivers are and that's scary.

I just got my license at 24. My dad was killed by a young driver who left the scene and him for dead. Driving makes my heart race. I hate it.

If you're that scared of car accidents surely you'd feel safer if you were driving yourself rather than relying on other people who may or may not drive safely?

    • I'd feel safer walking or getting a train I think. There are less train crashes than car crashes.

  • I think you should get over your fears. It’s much better to have to the freedom to drive your own car and not wait on others to drive you around.

This is one of the many reasons I don't want to learn to drive.

  • Not gunna lie it can be scary. Having to depend on other people and not just you. Having to be aware of your surroundings constantly for other drivers. But driving can be fun I happen to be one person who loves it and always have. I drive even if there’s nowhere to go because it’s enjoyable to me. The fact I rely on others too is always a reminder tho. I always wanna drive over others because some peoples driving scares me to be with them. I trust myself and feel if a accident were to ever happen maybe I could avoid it better than a different person. I did get into a accident and was technically injured even tho it was a few sprains and burns from the airbag. Which btw sound like a gun shot coming out and hurt like a bitch. Car was totaled but it really wasn’t all that bad. The lady could of kept going after pulling out in front of me and I would of most likely made it but she decided to stop so I had to run into her. I swear I was shaking for 5 hours with adrenaline I was so pissed at her. But also in pain I couldn’t feel my face and my nose was bleeding. But also cause it was cold out. Worst of it is if I didn’t turn the wheel like I did I would of hit her kids. Some people are dumb af. But she hesitated and I can kinda understand that and she generally felt terrible and kept admitting her fault. Which was good but I litterally couldnt even talk to her was about to attack her for messing up my car. With the money I got back I bought it back and fixed it up back to normal. If you do decide to give it a try go on a back road or somewhere not busy and give it a try it’s easier than you think and it may seem fun to you too. Ik at first I was scared but as soon as I started the instructor kept telling me I was best in class and was a natural. You’ll get the hang of it in no time and as long as you keep a eye out for others you really can avoid a lot. Don’t pull out in front of people and stop tho. Cause that’s dumb. And a lot of assholes leave there blinker on when they arnt turning so make sure and watch out for that. But I drive a lot everyday and have been driving for 4 years. You can at least give it a try and if you really don’t like it then don’t do it.

well seeing that you are so sensitive about driving and you know how bad some drivers are , you should learn to drive. roads need people like you who will not drive recklessly. if you can't control a car then that's a different thing. before driving car you should be able to ride a bicycle and a bike, so that you have a sense of balance. in case of cars, you may start with a small one so that you get a sense pf proportions.

I love driving! I love feeling the car go along the road. I love powering out of a corner and flooring it in the tunnel to hear the turbos...

I'm the proud owner of 4 death machines... 3 Mercedes and one broken down project BMW death machine.
All three Mercedes have been modified and have their power upped. And now I'm saving to fix my E24 635CSI, to buy a sporty exhaust system for my E420 Mercedes, and for an AMG package for my C-class.

Cars are amazing. Driving is amazing. I drove 16 hours to Bulgaria (back home) on one go and I feel awesome! I'd like to think I'm like a younger version of Jeremy Clarkson.

I just started driving again after not having had my own vehicle for over two years. As far as I'm concerned driving is the best thing there is for me, because I don't like depending on other people, or having to plan around someone else's schedule. I also don't like feeling afraid.

I was in a pretty bad car crash when I was about 21, but I just couldn't see myself not driving. If I didn't drive my life would be too small, and dependent upon others. I don't want to feel so weak, and frail as to be so afraid. I also don't like the idea of using public transportation, because I love my privacy, and personal space.

It's not too far away that most all cars drive themselves. Then the onus can be put on the Elon Musks and googles of the world, and not the individual drivers themselves.

I've been driving for many years and I still feel it's unnatural and I am completely aware I'm in control of a man-made machine that is powerful and possibly deadly. Driving properly and responsibly involves being alert at all times and always considering that other drivers might make mistakes. Like Ellena said, I feel safer if I'm the one behind the steering-wheel.

Unless I'm drunk, then I'm happier in my Uber.
