Is it normal i didn’t want my family to know i read my bible?

I’ve had a rocky relationship with religion, but at one time I was very religious and so was my family, but for some reason I never wanted them to see me reading my Bible.

I remember asking about this on yahoo answers and someone left a really rude comment suggesting I was embarrassed my family believed in it. No, I wasn’t. Maybe I was worried they’d try to ask me questions about it and I’d feel bad for not knowing anything, or they’d treat me condescendingly, I’m really not sure.

Maybe you're just a more private person?

    • I guess that could be it, I’ve always kept things secret without understanding why.

Religious conversations are some of the most fun conversations. Why wouldn't your family to have them with you?

    • Maybe I was worried they’d guilt trip me, they tend to do that

It's a very serious topic. Guilt tripping is a great way to turn people away from faith.

Nah, that's more of a Baptist thing. We Catholics treat those questions in a very serious manner. If you're wrong, you're corrected and told how you were wrong, not made fun of.

Normal to be embarrassed about your delusions and want to keep them secret

If I read the bible I would be embarrassed too. Not that I’d ever be that stupid, I don’t mind a good book but it’s such a long one for a fairytale.
