I dont think you would have left him in this case. They were a team of hunters. After Hugh Glass killed the bear he was on the ground very injured and they even took his gun and left him like 50 miles out in the woods still alive. He crawled all the way back and survived by eating bugs and put maggots in his back to eat the infection. He finally made it home and recovered and hunted those guys down. It happened in the 1800s.
