Is it normal i can't remember my childhood?

I don't have many childhood memories and I find it difficult to remember my childhood. I'm young so I should remember. I think it might be because I have bad derealization, especially when I'm stressed. And I was very stressed as a child. So maybe I had bad derealization a lot of the time and that's why I can't remember things. Thoughts?

  • I'm the same way. I think I repressed most of my childhood as I didn't have a great time. Probably for the best though as I wouldn't want to relive most of it.

    • Yeah sometimes I worry that something REALLY bad happened when I was a child and I can't remember it.

      • I can't say I have that problem as I know exactly why I don't remember it. My strongest memory is when I found out my dad died but the years before and after that kind of blur together.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though unless you have some serious issues that come from your past. The way I see it the past is the past, you just have to move on and make the best out of whatever situation you're given.

  • You seem to already know why you don't remember any of your childhood. When your body is stressed it will intentionally make you forget those stressful times. There is a lot of scientific proof of this. I don't remember a lot either :/ It really sucks. I am always stressed. Sometimes I wonder if I am going to slowly forget everything!
