Is it normal i can't kick a habit no matter how badly i want to?

I have this habit, which I guess is an addiction at this point, that I just can't kick no matter how badly I want to. And trust me, I badly want to. I'm sick of it and I hate getting up everyday just to engage in this habit, but I can't stop. I've tried to but it keeps calling me back. I'm practically begging for mercy at this point. I know I'm inflicting this misery on myself but it feels like it's out of my control and I desperately want out.

The most successful groups at assisting people to kick additions are support groups.

A Doctor or Psychologist may help as well... but, without a support group... there is very little chance of success.

Find a support group for your addition..

Look for a twelve step program for your addiction!

I'm not going to knock 12 step programs. In general they are the overall most successful approach for most people.

But, they are not a match for all and some people cannot stand them. I have seen other support groups with as few as 5 key actions that work for people.

      In all cases:
      1) You do need to admit you have a real problem.
      2) You need a support group from other people who have dealt with (or are dealing with) the same issue.
      3) You need at least one mentor - someone (or a few people) you can follow.
      4) You need to learn things you did not know and skills you had not yet learned (one of those skills may just be how to value yourself and how to build self esteem).
      5) You need to take action to change your situation, with encouragement and support from your support group.

Know also that people fail their way to success... No One is an instant success at anything and everyone needs to learn some things based on experience of what did not work for them.

It's actually the same basic steps needed for success at anything.

A lot of people find they need more steps than that so that each step is easier. But, those basic 5 work for many.

yes it's normal to feel like your addiction is out of your control, but you should definitely get some help, especially if it's affecting your health. remember that there's always a way out with the right help

As you said, you’re addicted and you need help to kick it. Start with your doctor.

Its hard to say without knowing your addiction. Rehab works for some people.
