Is it normal i can’t understand why a girl would want me

So I’m 25 and I recently out that a girl really likes me. I’m happy about it, but I can’t really fathom why she would like me.

“Behind the scenes” I was just diagnosed with high-functioning Autism, so I lack confindance and really don’t know if I would ever be willing to tell someone I date about this. Plus people’s chewing drives me out the wall.

I’m short, awkward, non-athletic, and have limited interests. I think this obvious when someone first meets me. But this girl found something in me and I just can’t comprehend why. I feel that way when people say they like both for romantic and non-romantic relationships.

You should feel honored and lucky. Don't ask why. Just go with it.

It's called being insecure, which everybody is. Most people in relationships feel the exact same as you do. Just remember that the reality is you're your own worst judge, and she probably doesn't see 99% of the insecurities you worry about. She likes you and that's all that matters, sometimes we should spend less time wondering "why" and spend more time enjoying

Because of my opinion on eugenics, I must encourage you to not attempt procreation, simple relations are fine.

They diagnose EVERYone under 30 with autism these days. Autism is the new obesity. I would not even share that info if you do not have to.

But for this girl liking you - how high does she score in the dating scene? I mean is she cute and normal or some lard butt with facial hair and nicotine stains on her fingers?

I think you should tell the one you're dating though.
I'm not saying to scream it of the roofs the first few times you meet her, but try to trust your partner with this information once in a loving relationship.

if she really loves you for who you are, the 'diagnose' will not change that. If she knows about it it might be easier to understand you in certain situations and maybe even help her react to it.

    • Well she does work with Autistic students so that might help.

And I do think I should tell her but I don’t even how I could bring that up. I fear rejection. But she has said that she’s the happiest she’s been in awhile. I’m thankful, but I can’t see why her or anybody else would like me whether romatically or platonically.

The fact she works with Autistic students is great! Nobody gets a job like that whitout having any interests in it. She might already have a clue about you being autistic due to this.
Whatever it is, she clearly seems to like you (from this post)
It's totally normal to be insecure and wonder why she would ever like you. The point is if someone really likes you they see beauty in all the little things. It might be how you think, speak, eat. Even how you pronounce a certain word or something really dumb like how you rock wearing two different socks. All those little things make you 'you' and no matter how boring, ugly and dull you might find yourself, someone else might see perfection in all those 'flaws'

It's not clear why we fall in love or like people as a friend. Just embrace the fact that she sees something in you, even if you don't see it yourself. I'm sure you like some people for who they are and those people are probably insecure about themselfs too :)

In grade school someone told me a girl likes me. So I went over to ask her if she wanted to go out. She said no, then I turned around and saw the person laughing at me with his friends. This situation is probably similar to that.

It's normal for people to feel self-conscious about themselves in dating. But don't worry about it, enjoy it :)
