Is it normal i blackout every time i drink ?

I drink heavily and have been for about a year now. Blackouts were a rare thing for me until recently, now I blackout every single time I get drunk. I know this is to be expected when getting shitfaced, but I drink just about the same as I did at the start of the year, I’m only blacking out now.

I’ve tried drinking more water while drunk or eating more food, but I still wake up in bed with no recollection of how I got there. I get enough sleep and maintain a healthy diet despite the drinking, and I don’t plan on drinking less.

You're not going to listen to us to tell you to quit drinking, being an alcoholic, that has to come from you. So, perhaps it's the KIND of alcohol you're drinking. Lay off the hard liquor.. stick with beer or wine for a while.

If you black out you are an alcoholic.

I ticked Not Normal, but actually what's happening IS normal for an alcoholic who's doing damage to his own body. If you have no plans to drink less, just continue as you are and you'll end up dying a nasty death.

Actually, from that last comment I wouldn't be surprised if your brain is already adversely affected by alcohol.

Hello?? Why keep on doing something that it’s clearly destroying you?
It is not normal to pass out randomly, it is not normal to drink until you pass out.

I can remember my friend telling me that aa meetings were useless. He said the guy running his last meeting showed up drunk and stumbling and someone had to give him a ride home.

Yeah, a drunk person shouldn't be moderating a meeting. There probably isn't much recovery at that particular meeting. That was jacked up, but it doesn't mean that all twelve step meetings are jacked up, just that particular meeting.

I used to accompany a friend to meetings for moral support almost ten years ago when I lived in Las Vegas, and there would always be at least a couple of people who walked with canes due to permanent injuries from drunk driving accidents.

Partying is one thing. Blacking out is another.

Problem is the U.S normalizes alcoholism (im assuming thats where youre living) In most other countries kids are not drinking heavy like that and blacking out. America has a big drinking problem because most college students are in-fact alcoholics. Go live in Europe for a while and see if you can find anyone who drinks like you. It might help you stop drinking like that- it helped me

As others have said, it sounds like cumulative damage.

There's no doubt at all that alcohol is toxic in any dose and it causes damage to a whole range of internal organs. An initially healthy body can tolerate regular, heavy drinking for a while and it does its best to repair the damage as and when it happens, but eventually you hit the point where there's so much damage this just isn't possible.

If you want to kill yourself, carry on drinking, but be aware that death by liver failure can be slow, painful, and extremely undignified. If you live in a place where medical care has to be paid for by the user or their family, it can also lead to very high medical bills for the dead idiot's family.

Acute pancreatitis is another illness often suffered by chronic drunks. By all accounts, it's excruciatingly painful and another illness that often requires hospitalisation.

Maybe your body is trying to tell you it's had enough to last another year or more. What's that song, "Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs, etc." That's a sign your body is tired of so much alcohol, and probably close to kidney failure. But hey, it's up to you to do something about it, or wake up with your head in a urinal, or a toilet, or in a gutter somewhere and your nose between some shifty ass cheeks. Your choice.
