Food addiction is pretty damn common these days. Like any addiction, it can be used as a comfort, a form of self control (in a weird sense), and there’s an element of mental/physical dependency. And if it is being used as a way to cope with underlying mental/emotional issues, therapy is very //very// recommended. I love therapy ! Good !!
Idle hands and a bored brain will only result in searching for simple pleasures, a lot of people snack just to do something. Anytime I sit in front of a tv I want some sort of snack food to pick at
Food addiction should be treated as any other addiction, and a binge eater will do their best to stave it off, the “ah fuck it” moment happens, and then it’s justified with “Ill start my diet tomorrow, this is my last binge”
Dedicating meals to specific places or times is very helpful. You can annoy yourself out of a bad habit.
For example, giving yourself the limitation that you will only eat at your dinner table. Not your couch, or car, or whatever, will add an obnoxious element to your life.
Eating only in silence, without entertainment. Will encourage you to “get it over with” and cut the Pavlov Dog idea of “Oh everytime I watch XYZ I need a snack to go with it “
DO NOT go from binging to starving. That won’t help you at all. It will only feel like a punishment for trying to fight your addiction. Any attempt to better yourself should be met with reward.
Don’t buy the snack foods at all. It’s a rule you don’t drink around a recovering alcoholic. You don’t leave a bag of dope with an addict and say “Here, don’t touch it !”
Self betterment sucks. It always sucks. Once we learn to accept that something is going to suck, it’s with great eagerness we are willing to fight to get over that hump to be where it doesn’t suck anymore
IIN I binge eat?
