Is it normal i am not distressed by my mental illness?

I have noticed a lot of people diagnosed with mental illness complain a lot and use it as a reason they are unhappy.
I have been diagnosed with various mental disorders and I don't see it as a problem.
In fact I am more creative because of it and I like my eccentricities.
I am quite happy with myself but I see the burden as society does not always react well to how I act, although I see that as their problem.
How come some people who are labled as mentally ill constantly complain and have low self esteem? I am quite happy with how I am. I don't even like the term mental illness because it implies there are germs in my brain, but I am just a strange person who doesn't quite match societies demands, which I find unnecessary.

This is like somebody having a broken arm and posting "I have a broken bone but I have no trouble walking, why do all these other people with broken bones use a wheelchair or crutches?"

Or somebody with pneumonia posting "I'm sick but I have no trouble eating and drinking, why do all these other sick people throw up and have diarrhea?"

Imagine somebody who's deaf posting "I have a disability but I can see just fine, why do other people with disabilities need guide dogs and braille writing?"

Would any of those things make sense? Of course not. All illnesses, diseases, injuries, disabilities, etc are completely different. So are all mental disorders.

The ones who complain about it see what they're missing out on or have illnesses that directly cause low self esteem. Or, on the flip side, have debilitating mental illnesses that make life miserable and actually interfere with their ability to live life rather than just making them think they can't live life. No one says schizophrenia makes them happier, but the same might not be true of personality disorders or even bipolar.
I guess your method is better than constantly second guessing yourself and wearing yourself down to nothing because you can't get your mind to work, but at the same time you need to be aware of the impact your actions have rather than blaming others for how they react.

You may not have any 'mental illness' at all!

More and more people in society are developing 'space-brain dementia', due to being exposed to abnormal levels of cosmic radiation, for the reason that the world's protective geomagnetic field is gradually weakening.
Because of this, many people in society are acting irrationally, and they often view people who are quite normal as being abnormal, and frequently incorrectly conclude that such individuals are somehow a threat to them, without any basis in fact whatsoever!

Your question suggests grandiosity and a lack of empathy. You appear to believe you are better than others and you seem to think that, no matter how you behave and treat other people, that's irrelevant as long as you're happy with yourself.

If you want to go off and live alone in a cabin in the wilderness, those traits would not be a problem. If you want to live in close proximity to other people and rely on them for your survival, those attitudes are going to cause problems.

Many people with mental illness aren't upset by it and never seek treatment. The view looking out from their private world seems fine, even though they're making life for those around them pretty hellish.

    • You are quite accurate. Other people's problems with me are none of my concern.

What other people think of me is none of my business.

Having a diagnosis of my mental illness has been such a relief for me. It makes me feel like I'm not alone, and like there is a rational explanation for what I've been going through. I'm also infatuated with psychiatry so it's always fun to do more research on my diagnosis.

I was about to ask the same thing, I genuinely believe that this whole thread is pointless until we know.

Society is ill if anything or the expectation that there is a standard for a "healthy mind" now that's sick!

I seriously hate being woke up in the middle of a deep sleep in the night because I have to take a painful dump. Then after the deed is done I cannot go back to sleep and the rest of my day is ruined.

Does your butt hurt afterwards? I started getting really into using aloe vera gel and Tuck's medicated pads as sort of a post dump ritual, and to tell you the truth it's soothing and refreshing.

It does not really hurt afterwards. It is just annoying because as soon as I wake up after sleeping my bowels also wake up and within ten minutes I need to take a righteous dump.

Yeah, it's like that dump first thing in the morning signals the beginning of a brand new day.

I would rather be regular than constipated...but it is still annoying.

Regularity is a good thing. I don't think I really gave a damn when I was younger, but now I hate being constipated.

Do you ever get pooping headaches?
