    Having an actual religion will always get more respect from me than the average 'live, consume, die' mentality that a lot of people hold nowadays

      Agreed. The only reason why I'm an agnostic is I cant honestly have true faith in god.

      I'm not gonna lie to an omniscient god about my beliefs about it. Better to come clean and keep an open mind about religions. Except the ones that do human sacrafice and other objectively immoral shit.

        Depends on what you mean by essential. It's not food or water. But an understanding on how the universe works is needed for humans. We are complex enough to require that next step in sustenance, understanding of our relationship with the world.
