  • To claim that eating animals once known as common and unclean in the past is sinful now is not possible without cherry picking yourself, for, "That vvhich God hath purfied, doe not thou cal common." - Acts 10:15

If you think mixing textiles to be sinful, I recommend you actually look up how the Jewish people handled that law, because they did not handle it the way you seem to think they did. The Jewish high priest was the only person allowed to wear a garment made of interwoven linen and wool. It was a rule placed to separate the holy high priest from everyone else. It is not a moral law, but one merely designed to separate regular people from the high priest, since only the high priest was allowed to wear such things. We, as Christians, do not follow such a high priest. We follow Jesus and the Church created by Jesus led by the Pope.

    • Bold of you to assume these foods are that which God purified. Maybe I can just decide God purified the acts of oral sex and masturbation as well.

Not everyone believes the same way. As you know, while both an atheist and antitheist, I came from an extremely religious family. They weren't really any particular sect of Christianity nor Jewish. The religion could best be described as do-what-the-Bible-actually-fucking-says-ism.

They absolutely did not mix fabrics or eat anything "unclean". It was always even backed up by pseudoscience claiming that both are demonstrably terrible for you and that God knew this. Many people practice exactly as Countess described.

Even as an antitheist now, in a way I have more respect for that than most religious practices even though these practitioners come across as more batshit. Shit or get off the pot, as they say. For me, the fact that people think they can just cherry-pick the fuck out of their religion is really indicative of the fact that on some level, maybe subconsciously, they don't really buy it. If your belief system is really true, _obviously_ you need to be real about it and accept what the shit actually says. To be honest, I'm a little surprised someone like you doesn't agree.

      • God purified all animals, causing them to no longer be unclean. It never says that God purified sodomy.

If wearing a garment woven of two sorts was immoral for all, then why would the Jewish high priest wear one? The reason that rule existed was to separate the high priest from regular people, but our high priest is Jesus, and he never wore such a thing, so there is no need for separation any longer.

It is not cherry picking, but reading the whole truth. To cherry pick is to ignore Acts 10 or the laws followed by the Jews. In order to have the full truth, you must have both knowledge of Jewish law and all the Bible. The Bible said that the animals were made clean, so they were made clean. The Jewish law had the high priest wear a garment of interwoven sorts, so it is not immoral to wear such a thing.
