Is it normal he called the cops on me for this?

This was a few years ago. We were with friends playing a card game called Cards Against Humanity. To put it short the answers on the cards are meant to be gross and offensive. People who play that game are usually not easily offended and aren't racist or sexist. Apparantly this guy was easily offended and got mad at me for playing a card that mentioned Nazis in it. He said he was German and from England and he was saying I should know better. I told him that he gets no apology from me and that if you have certain triggers either say them before the game starts or don't play at all. I guess it pissed him off more because he called the cops. He couldn't believe that they wouldn't arrest me and was told by the cops that he could be arrested the next time he calls over something like this. Was this situation normal? This dude has the nerve to call me up recently and try to hang out again. Ugh.

He called the cops on you for playing particular cards?

My friend, you are the ultimate winner of Cards against Humanity.

He’s a jackass. And not worth being friends with. It’s a game ffs lol. I’m German Irish so my people are known for getting really drunk and killing Jews lol. He needs to get a sense of humor.

Your “friend” sounds like a 25 y/o vegan hipster white snowflake who can’t hold a job for more thant 2 minutes.

    • I live in the ghetto, so whites are rare here. Minus the white part, what you're describing sounds like a few of the people here. They stop showing up to jobs due to feelings and then they complain that jobs are hard to find, while they continue to get jobs and quit them. They'll proceed to blame their family, whites, or the Puerto Ricans because according to them the town "went to shit" when they came in. They never want to take responsibility.

White snowflakes and people from the hood have a quite a bit in common. Just opposite sides of the spectrum.

I think making threats against someone, especially the govt, can be a crime but people talking shit? No way.

The guy that called the cops, so he called them to report that you said something he didn't like?

Does that guy happen to wear a football helmet?

try forgiving him. We all do stupid things, albeit this one is pretty ridiculous, but maybe he just needs to be around people more. We all could use a good dose of human connection.

    • Honestly, I've had way too many encounters with overly sensitive people like this in the past, and forgiving them only made me miserable. He already had a thing against me over something petty.

It's just a game, the whole point of cards against humanity is that it's fucked up. Nazis aren't funny IRL but they're a guaranteed round win unless BATMAN!!!

One of my favourite rounds of CAH had me having to choose between "Auschwitz" and "The profoundly disabled" as an answer to "What's that smell?"

      It's evil but it's hilarious.

"Next from JK Rowling: Harry Potter and the Chamber of" it was between "puppies" and "ethnic cleansing". Ethnic cleansing won again. I probably can't write half of ours without getting banned.

That's the whole thing about dark humour. We're only laughing because our brains recognise it's wrong to do so and the incongruity of it all...

It's not for everyone. I get that. But it doesn't make people who DO find it funny bad people.

I'm Spanish, German, Welsh and Scot-Irish, and I just want to say that the stuff they have on that game makes me laugh more than it could offend me. Nazi jokes don't offend me. I don't actually have the game, but I would play it.

There are things that hurt more than others. Sure he has been overacting but it's surely because its a past that is difficult to accept for him. It happens that friends go crazy.

I remember I was in another country and invited my friends where I lived so we could celebrate the New Year's Eve together. We went clubbing, I got tooo drunk and when we were home again I told them all that I was with them because I had no other choice because I wanted to be with my family and some other shits. Then I broke in tears and drank more until I passed out.

What I mean is that we are all trash in some ways.

I didn't know Brits could get arrested for Playing Cards Against Humanity.

Why do they sell the game there if it's illegal to play it?

Also no, it's not normal. I would call the police and accuse him of the same thing. Are they going to prove it? And you have witnesses on your side proving he played the game as well.

We can't be arrested for purchasing cards against humanity.

However when it comes to playing it, we do actually have something called "hate speech" so technically speaking, depending on what was said, you could report it to the police. In theory. You can't just be arrested for using the word Nazi.

In reality though those laws are rarely enforced. It would usually just be for something like spamming the word nigger all over a black colleague's desk or something, not playing a stupid card game involving the word Nazi.

      • Hate speech? Is THAT part of the reason why he was freaking out? That guy also didn't like something I said once and held it against me. I really don't want to reconnect with him.

No, he was freaking out because he's a dickhead. Most English people are not like him.

If I was you I'd be so tempted to call him a disgusting racial slur. I never would normally use them because I'm not that kind of person, but when people behave like a thought police and cry racism when there's no need, it makes me want to actually be racist just to prove a point in the hope that it might give them some perspective and change their behaviour for the better.

Then again, I'm a massive twat with serious issues so maybe don't do what I would do...

            -
          • I couldn't do the racial slur thing. It might've made things worse and confirmed in his head that I'm a Nazi even though I'm not. I have no intention of reconnecting with him.
