Having beliefs is not a weakness itself, the weakness is thinking those beliefs are real. Reality does not care about what we believe or not. They're called beliefs for a reason. They are only real in our mind.
As you said, as soon as the "I want to help" became "I need to help", it's falling under the obsession side and is unhealthy.
Nothing good will come out of it for him and potentially for the people he is "helping".

Argh. I get your point and really you’ve just been agreeing with me this whole time. I’ve just been fussy about how you like to say certain things. And I think you’re morally absent but that’s besides the point.
I’m bathing in your compliments, really I am, you would’ve won yourself a big kiss by now if you weren’t such a sourpuss about everything else. I’ll think about all the sweet things you’ve told me tonight while I stroke my thick ego.
I know that moral is totally subjective and therefore can be highly problematic, so I try not to get involved in moral as much as possible.
I just don't sugarcoat most of the things I say. I'd rather be frank and not waste some time beating around the bush. Some people don't get it. I'm glad you do.
