Is it normal for your iq to go lower and lower over the years?

Military iq test results at 19 years old: 142-144
At 27: 132
At 33: 127
At 47: 115

I was very tired when I took the last test as I'd been awake for 30 hours which may have skewed the results, but it still seems that my iq is dropping markedly with each decade. People I work with tell me that I'm very focused and I dont make mistakes a lot, but if you look at my iq results I'm getting dumber and dumber with each passing year. Normal or not?

    • I know.😔
At this rate I'll be using words like y'all and the word "be" as a verb soon. Its sad.

Nah see!! You’re already in the habit of thinking in straight lines!

It takes a good bit of creative brain to be able to write directly as spoken. It’s pretty theatrical really.

        • Lol. I guess so.
I guess it also takes a lot to speak directly as written too.

The word "be" is a verb. For example, someone can "be frank" or they can "be a human being".

    Brain is a muscle.
You gotta exercise it to keep it strong.

In your younger years you had a wide variety of things to be constantly working to understand. As you got older you probably fell into a routine and haven’t had to think on your feet as much. Just an assumption.

Don’t stop “playing” or teaching yourself “useless” knowledge. Don’t become robotic. Don’t underestimate the brain power that’s used to enjoy or participate in art and sport.

The wolf that doesn’t play will be the first to lose his prey!

    • I think you're right. I dont exercise my brain much. Maybe I'll start doing math problems after work or memory exercises. Good advice.

I'm currently residing in Delaware. I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for fifteen years. I was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, raised in in Houston, Texas, went to college in Louisiana. I've lived, and worked in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.

I'm not a hillbilly, I'm a Southerner from the Deep South.

How long have you been coming to this site? Prolonged exposure to stupid comments has a negative effect on your IQ. (you just lost another point)

I highly doubt your IQ was in the 140s. What did you do in the military? Nuclear scientist? Chemist?

People in general are losing intelligence today. Or maybe it's not that, it's more that so many people now are losing common sense.

Not normal to believe in IQ tests to measure your intelligence.
