  • I caught myself doing it once and I have a feeling others do it. I was at a party and wanted to go out of my way to take a picture with people so I could upload it to facebook. I thought about it later and realized I only wanted to do it to impress others and make my life look entertaining and I thought it was kinda pathetic. I dont do any social media at all anymore except this. I do miss being able to keep track of my hometown friends tho and I worry I've been messaged but havent responded. Maybe Ill open the app again. Every now and then my mom will tell me who died or got married or whatever cause I dont keep track.

    • I understand, I avoid social media as well and have missed or found out about things way after they happen, and the answer is always "well we put it on Facebook" or some other site.

Even companies and organizations I belong to have stopped sending notifications out, (neither email, snail mail, or even a text) to members about significant events. They just assume everyone is on Facebook.

I've actually been pushed the opposite way. If I find out about an event through unofficial means and, I find out the only way they notified people was by posting on social media, I'll miss it on purpose just to point out to them not everyone follows their little world.

It's made me more anti social media.
