Is it normal for the mentally disabled to kill their pets?

Anything I can do to stop my aunt from buying her son (my cousin) new pets that he ends up killing, mostly rabbits because he cuddles them too hard, completely neglects them or kills them during violent tantrums?

She's not a very good parent if she keeps doing that shit. Have you talked to her about it?

This is how sociopaths are born. Being autistic is half way there, all they need is a detach from reality and you got a serial killer on your hands.

Don't be bringing autism into it. I'm autistic and I've never hurt a fly. I actually really like animals. And I feel really sorry for the animals in slaughterhouses and factory farms getting physically abused and then slaughtered without getting stunned first. Mental disability is not automatically synonymous with animal abuser. Sure, there may have been mentally disabled people who have tortured and abused animals, but there have also been plenty of non-mentally handicapped people who have done the same. I've seen videos that show undercover video footage of how horribly they're treating cows and pigs, and some of them were actually swinging metal shovels at their heads, banging them on their heads so hard and yelling "common motherfucker!! I'm gonna fuck you up you fucker!!!". Talking in a punkass way to cows and pigs as if they're talking to fuckin rival gangsters or something, I mean WTF!!? But, there was nothing autistic about them. They were like, pissed off at these animals who never did anything to them except be animals!!

Hey, I know a number of autistic people and their difficulties have nothing to do with intrinsic malice. Kids have tantrums. Autistic spectrum kids are more prone to tantrums because they are frustrated by all the things they fail at, without understanding why. They often don't have an awareness of socially acceptable behaviours and more trouble than the average child in managing their emotions so yeah, they might lash out - but you can bet they feel shame when it's foisted on them, and feel grief when their cherished pet dies. Kids don't know their own strength. It might take longer for an autistic child to learn. But he/she can be taught.

I would advise that this aunt stop getting pets for her son, or keep them well-contained and only let her son interact with them when supervised. She could teach him how to be gentle, and that violent actions have consequences.

Yeah. Someone's gotta ring this kid in before it actually happens.

It is disgusting. I wonder what is wrong with OP's cousin. Did you read my comment? I feel kinda guilty, but I don't think I could love such a child. I think I would see it as just a burden.

      • That’s why I’m pro choice. I wouldn’t want nor love a child, and would hate seeing it exist without a purpose or realizing how pathetic its lot is. Just rip it out the womb and throw away the pieces.

I agree with that. I wouldn't be able to love a child like that either. Most people I've known with kids like that or siblings like that are usually dead on the inside.

Thanks for your support, Cuntsiclestick. I think it would be hard enough to deal with having a child with a physical, or mental disability, but to have one who also isn't safe to have around small animals would awful, and just a burden like a big cross to bear. I think it would be easier to have lost such a child to being still born, or to SIDS. I feel like you get what I'm saying, because honestly I'm kinda bracing myself for when someone comes along, sees this comment of mine, and tells me I'm supposed to love it no matter what.

Also I really hope that this story isn't true, because it kinda reminds me of the character of Lenny from Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck. 🤔

You're welcome! Yeah, I'm glad no one has said anything
so far. People who take comments too personally are pretty dumb. The whole "you need to love someone unconditionally" is a lie. If someone makes me feel stressed or burdens me, I cut that person out right away.

I remember that book in like 8th grade. I thought of that too. XD

I remember that book, read it in 10th grade English class, then showed us the movie too. That same year, we also read and saw the movie "Charly". I guess that English teacher was quite interested in stories about those who are mentally handicapped.

Call the animal welfare! I know the kid doesn't mean it but there's no excuse for letting animals be killed! Ffs, he should be given teddy bears, not living creatures.

Take your cousin to the zoo and shove him in the gorilla pen. Seriously they should extend abortion laws well into adulthood for cases like this.

Maybe you can call CPS, and the Humane Society, and ask them what can be done. It sounds like your cousin doesn't deserve much more than a stuffed animal.

How old is he? You know I'm pretty much pro-life, and I don't believe in eugenics. No offense, but your cousin sounds awful, what is wrong with him? He sounds like he should be sedated, and placed in an institution somewhere. I know this doesn't sound very nice, but if I had a child like that I wouldn't want to keep it. I don't think I could love something like that.

Mild sedation drugs should do the trick in children that dont recognize thier strength nor how it interacts with the world. That's what the parents did to bullies in the 2000s at least that what we did to them.

Can I ask you this, because I have trouble finding clear enough answers on this on websites. Why is the humane slaughter act so loosely enforced at slaughterhouses here in America? Is it that the people of the law just don't care enough to punish those who abuse animals that are going to be eaten anyway? They don't view them as sentient beings and only see them as food with legs? Food that will be packed under cellophane at the stores and served on plates in restaurants? I know that the laws are stricter over abuse of domestic pet animals, cats and dogs than they are over livestock. But, the livestock animals don't care about that. They don't care that someone once decided to make some animals pets and others livestock. To them, they're all sentient beings who want to live and experience life, and don't want anyone to try to take it away from them.

I'm sorry I don't have a good answer, but I think your ideas about it are probably quite accurate.

This kid has more problems than autism and I wonder how much of that has been caused by his moronic irresponsible mother. It sounds as if she's actually trying to create a monster out of him.

Not normal at all, and absolutely awful for the poor pets. I can't believe your aunt doesn't realize how inhumane that is.

Maybe try suggesting an alternative to a pet, like a stuffed animal?

A stuffed animal should be the only thing allowed for anyone who wants to harm innocent animals who never did anything to them except be an animal. I'm still struggling to comprehend why there are so many people in today's world who carry so much anger and hate in them.

I don't understand it, either. I could never hurt an animal. I love them very much and they're so helpless most of the time. There was a question on here yesterday where someone was asking if it was legal to adopt a pet for the purpose of killing it, and that made me sick. Hopefully it was just a troll question, but there are seriously messed up people in this world.

Sad but true. I've been sickened by seeing the way they treat cows, pigs, and lambs on factory farms and slaughterhouses. That's right; simple, innocent, peaceful little lambs. Do some people not realize that they're sentient beings, or do they actually just not give a shit about them?
