  • You're absolutely correct about people wanting to put others down for bettering themselves. That's easier than actually taking the time to improve themselves, and people can be very jealous and competitive creatures.

I've had so-called "friends" (and even exes) in the past who were the same way about me doing anything to better myself (mentally or physically). It all boiled down to the fact that they wanted to keep my self esteem down and for me to not get any better because that way I wouldn't surpass them, or finally realize that I could do better than those people.

Try to surround yourself with supportive and secure people, and do what makes you happy, and what is healthy. Just the fact that these people have a problem with you trying to recover from your binge eating disorder is disturbing in itself, and they sound like highly toxic people.

    • Wait, are you the person from the question about wanting to lose weight despite loving food, and who wants to weigh 70 lbs at 5'3"? If so, people may not want you to lose weight out of concern, because that is dangerously thin.

      • Definitely not. I don't have any desires to be underweight. I believe that was someone else.

My only desire is to become at a comfortable and healthy weight.

        • Then I would definitely say it's just them being jealous or feeling intimidated. Do what's best for you and forget them!
