You are powerless to stop their annoying gossip. But you can choose to empower yourself by setting certain boundaries. You can choose not to participate in the gossiping and also choose not to confide things of a personal nature to those who do the gossiping.
If it's any consolation my younger sister and I both can't stand our extended family either.
