Is it normal for my mom to enable me to drink for sleeping purposes?

Last night, I slept horribly. I was only able to sleep for 4 hours because I couldn't sleep until it was like 2:30(ish). So basically, I woke up at 6:30(ish). I didn't really feel so great after that obviously. I told my mom about this tonight and she actually offered to let me try some wine that was laying around for a while. I tried it and loved it, so my mom told me to drink some more. I kept sipping, stopping, and then sipping some more until she said it was good enough. Then, she said it would help me sleep very good. Apparently, she was enabling me to drink alcohol. She is aware that I'm an occassional binge drinker, but she knows that I've been good by not getting drunk, tipsy, or wasted for months. I guess this is the reason why she decided to treat me to a bottle of wine so that I would get that pleasant tipsy feeling and drift off into dreamland instantly.

Alcohol helps you get to sleep, but it prevents quality sleep. I guess you don't go through all the sleep cycles.

Not a good idea unless your goal is to become an alcoholic.

Ask a doctor! No alcohol will cure insomnia!

Self medicating with alcohol is a bad idea especially if you were a binge drinker. Time to see a doc for a sedative or something.

Dude, why not ZZquil or any other over the counter sleep aid?

My boyfriend's parents let him drink at a young age so I see no problem with it
