Is it normal for men to get emotional
When I was 16 (2 years ago) and I had my first real/serious relationship, it was with a guy who was extremely over emotional and would cry at very minor things but I originally just wrote this off as being an isolated incident with an extremely girly guy. We dated for about 18 months and then broke up.
I now have a new boyfriend but have recently started messaging the ex again, there is no intention of a serious relationship as he has moved quite far away now but we have flirty/sexy conversations online.
When my current boyfriend found out about this, he became very emotional and started to cry, which struck me as a massive overreaction. When I asked him “are you crying?,” he said no and then turned and walked out of the room, presumably to go and cry somewhere else.
I have mentioned how I find it unattractive, repulsive and generally pathetic when men cry or show feminine emotions yet he still did it.
I didn’t really even realise that men had emotions until I met the first bf. I have always thought that I have quite a masculine personality for a girl and I wouldn’t cry like that so I assumed most men would be like me.
Neither of these guys seemed particularly feminine or girly when I started dating them and they actually seemed like real men. Is it normal for men to get so over emotional like this?
