What I find odd about this tale is that apparently your husband and friend were sitting in complete silence in the kitchen. If they were talking, that should have reminded you that the friend was going to be there.

I wouldn't be surprised if you knew damn well that the friend was there, you were hoping to provoke an extreme response from your husband, and you posted the question here because you've been left disappointed by his calm, rational, and reasonable reaction.
