Is it normal for a white conservative male to hate country music?

I like classic rock, heavy metal, and 80s hip hop. Many people are surprised that a white conservative guy with a southern accent hates country music.

      Heh.
      I'm conservative but I don't believe in a god.

      • Well clearly you're not a conservative who eats babies and kicks puppies, or maybe you're trying to fool me and that's exactly what you do.

...I Got my eye on you, boy.

Huh why don't you believe me? There is nothing fishy about wanting small gov, low taxes etc but not believing in god. It might have been sarcasm on your part but it's hard to tell if that downvote was yours or not.

          • Sarcasm, bro. And nah, I don't use the thumb system on here so it wasn't me. :)

I wonder if the down-votes are from conservatives who are shocked that I don't believe in the magical sky-daddy or from atheists who believe I should believe in Social Justice like them lol.

It's just a preference, of course it's normal. It's a good thing to not be a stereotype.

I like some old country but modern country is a vain attempt at pop music. All the songs are about beer and adultery.

I feel like country music is too male dominated. Almost every song is by a male singer and about love, again from a man's point of view. Most of the music and lyrics are generic, only a few are actually quality tunes that are catchy, stand the test of time, and make you think and reflect on life.

Not all the way conservative. I guess you could say conservative libertarian. I just think country music sounds weak and the lyrics are lame. The lyrics are centered around some weak ass guy getting his heart broken by some bitch.

not all the way - that's probably it then. But yeh, that sounds like a reasonable justification for not liking country music. You just be true to yourself, that's all that matters.

Your not a true cowboy son, sorry to disappoint you. There's nothing like listening to some good old country music down the road while drinking some sour bourbon Jack Daniel's Nº7.

Of course having personal music preferences is normal.

Yeah, my folks are pretty conservative, and they don't listen to Country music. My dad likes, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd off the top of my head. My dad is 80 by the way. My mom still likes Madonna and Prince, but my dad prefers Lady Gaga over Madonna.
