Is it normal for a job to say they will call you in 1-2 days and don't ?

CALL THEM. It sounds like they already rejected you, but showing such an interest in the job may make them change their minds if their first choice doesnt accept.

It happens. And calling them a million times only annoys them. It doesn't show "initiative".

You need to be proactive in this market, call them.

That's happened to me multiple times. I'd give them until Tuesday and if they haven't contacted you, call them.

Where I work, we got told to save money by sending all letters by second class post (we employ 15,000 people and the savings do add up). Then we were told not to notify any unsuccessful applicant (unless they contacted us, which is obviously free).

Times are hard. I'd ring them yourself.
