Is it normal for a father to be jealous about his teenage daughters relationship

As a teen, I have recently came out to my family about my boyfriend of 1 year. I've told my brother about my boyfriends background, & it's not the best. But its not where he killed 13 people. but he's been kicked out of school & things like that. but he's changed. Another reason why my father might not like him is because he has cancer & it's spreading. and he think that it's adding to my depression. even though my boyfriend has made it 100x easier. how do i tell my dad to try to accept him? is it normal for my dad to be uncontrollably jealous?

    Your father is FAR from jealous of your relationship with your boyfriend. If anything, he's worried because he's dying and he doesn't want to see his daughter with a douche bag loser.

    She didn't say anything about mass-murdering or dropping out. No one said he had emotional baggage. All she's asking is how she can get her fathers approval on him. I think she could've figured out if he was bad for her in the course of the year they have been together.
