Is it normal for a black girl to listen to k-pop?

So i'm black and i highly enjoy k-pop and j-pop. Most people always think ''oh you black, you only listen to rap.'' Truthfully, im not too big into rap or ''old school'' songs. Sure i like OFWG and Eminem but even then, i don't listen to them much. I don't really even listen to much English language songs but, i do have certain bands i will listen to all the time.

Is this normal? I'm not like a weeaboo or koreanaboo or whatever. I don't even watch anime or k-dramas, i only like the music.

I'm not black, but I don't assume that every black person I see likes rap. Whatever a person's musical interest is is their business. If someone doesn't like it, screw em.

A person can enjoy any kind of music regardless of race. Ignore the weirdos that only think of stereotypes.

There are white people who listen to rap.
There are asians who listen to Latin music.
There are black people who listen to k-pop.

You can like anything. You don't have to follow racial stereotypes.

Yeah, every black person listens to rap. Uh, likely not. What kind of idiots think that?

There are white people that are rap fanatics.

Depending on where someone lives, there are people with a chocolate brown skin tone that are culturally more 'white' than white people because this whole 'white' culture stuff is just plain old homogenized mainstream American (usually) culture. That same stuff is all over the world. This K-Pop phenomenon? Koreans were not like that 50 years ago. K-Pop has its origin in Western European and American culture that made its way there over the last 30 years.

So, I will proclaim you as normal.

Too bad if most people are too dumb to realize this.

Looks like you actually speak English too, so that's probably it. Move out of the black neighborhood if you are in or near one, problem solved. Then you can meet real human beings who are more like you instead of idiots who say it's "mandatory" for you to listen to disgusting non-music because of your skin. (Sure, there's good rap too, but I doubt those people who say this to you are listening to it, because it hasn't been released on radio or TV for about 15 years.)

I'm Latina and I am OBBESESED with Kpop! It really doesn't matter what color tone you are because in the end, music is music, and music is great! I'm not all that into Jpop, but I watch anime and I just really enjoy Asian related stuff, as in music, shows, food, etc. The stereotype for the music Mexicans listen to is Banda, but I honestly hate that genre(?) of music. So yes, it is totally normal for you to enjoy Kpop and Jpop! <3
