Are you ashamed that people who have the same colour eyes as your own have done terrible things? Do you feel ashamed to share the same skin pigmentation as some serial killers?
Since you're human, it's highly likely you have done things in your life which you feel ashamed about now, but it's pointless self-flagellation to be ashamed of things for which you are not personally responsible.
Every group of people selected by any criteria you choose - including sexual orientation - will include some people who are nasty, shallow, and stupid. Some people are obnoxious dicks for a whole range of reasons, and some people lash out at others in an attempt to feel better about themselves.
Some people who belong to a certain club look down on those who they see as not being fully committed to the club. It's a commonly held perception that many lesbians hate bisexuals, at least partly because they're deemed to be "sleeping with the enemy".
I suggest you do you, and try not to worry too much about how sad, spiteful people do their lives.
If the gatherings were of lesbian women, you might consider reading this to understand what was going on.
Good post and I checked out that survey: only 65 participants but interesting nevertheless. I'd have liked to have known how many of the lesbians surveyed regarded themselves as lesbian feminists and as a former such person, now ostracized after coming out as bi, exclusionary & judgmental attitudes are common and very hurtful.
One former lover screamed the question"Why do you have to be so honest?" at me: apparently I should've kept quiet about sexual attraction to a man after decades of living as a lesbian?
And of course I'm still a feminist of the 70's Women's Liberation/Anarcha Feminist variety, but now have nothing to do with judgmental authoritarian feminists.
IIN for a bisexual person to feel ashamed when LGBT people act hateful?
