Is it normal fascinated by diabetes?

I really wish I want to school to be a doctor.

But I find myself fascinated with diabetes and how it affects the body, particularly kidney failure and gastropsresis. I’d like to explain in further detail but I’m not even sure why I feel this. I take credit for the post several months ago that I buy diabetic socks even though I’m not diabetic, I got my girlfriend and friend to do the same.

And if you have type-1 you’re at risk for developing a DKA and one of the side effects is fruity smelling breath.

  • If you have that passion study more into it. Maybe you find kidney failure a big interest you could work in dialysis and help patients on the machine.

    Story time
I never knew anything until my grandmother went on that and I learned a ton it was interesting. My grandmother was on it for 3 years before she passed and I heard that long is a long time to be on it. And how it effects the heart, she only had 15% to begin with. Before she passed I was told it was no longer a help to her and caused more harm than good and didn’t truly get the fluid out of her lungs and that it only gets the veins or something weird along those lines. It was a dramatic change to see her energetic to instantly being in pain constantly can barly walk it effected her mentally, physically and emotionally a lot. She was forgetful more than ever and would have random emotional outbursts. She also had some cancer and lots and lots of other issues that ended in her passing but this was one that was a pretty big learning experience. Not to get all personal on a random website full of weirdos but mainly what I’m saying is learning about diabetes and kidney failure (she had both) was very interesting actually she even got kidney failure from a UTI she didn’t feel because of diabetes so weird connection here. Anyways what I originally was saying, if this is something that you want to persue go for it go to school and learn more. If helping peoples what you want to do get into that. If you have the passion you could help many people with the talent and knowledge you gain.

      • Thanks and you should. Now that I think of it not all, but a good majority of others who she took dislysis with were also disbetic. So if you do get into this you’d probably get a chance to learn more about disbetes too.

Seemed others in the room were usually talking to the nurses ( or whatever they are called) which I understand a conversation every now and then is nice when your stuck sitting for 4 hours. But maybe some wouldn’t mind telling their own experience with diabetes.

It could be just a phase. There was a time I was obsessed with the idea of gravity. Started reading up on the theory of relativity and all that. The interest slowly faded.

  • True. But I’m not as interested in type 2.

    I might become a flobotomist.

Perhaps you could study something to work in the field?

I don't see the interest in any illness unless I or someone I know have it, but meh. Whatever works for you.

        • I’m already done with higher education. I guess I could always be an adult learner at some point.

I don’t know why she wants everyone to be understanding to her when she’s been rude to multiple people.

If you're really interested, it could be a good opportunity for you. Always a bonus working at something you're really engaged with/interested in. If you can stand going back and retraining, of course.

To be fair, I'm as rude to her as she is to me. I just wish she'd "attack" me with reality, instead of making shit up. She'll then accuse me of doing that, when I only base anything I say against her on her own inconsistent comments.

I don't like talking about other users "behind their backs" but I think there's reasonable enough expectation that she'll see this.
