Emotional tiredness by social anxiety???
Hi everyone
Every time I speak to someone on the phone for a long time and the other person tell me about problems when I finished talking I feel emotionally drained. I have experienced that a few times and I wanted to know why. I'm not sure neither if I'm suffering from social anxiety, I work as an interpreter I'm a very outgoing person, not shy I talk a lot to people but depending who it is, if is someone I don't like or I feel uncomfortable with I get very nervous and sometimes I make a fool of myself and I lack in confidence. Some people has this effect on me, and after wards I keep thinking "Why did I say this?", "What are they going to think of me?I'm sure they think how nervous and little confidence I have" and so on. It doesn't happen with everyone generally happens with this type of people that are overconfident and I'm sure they can feel when someone hasn't got much self-steam and makes them feel more powerful. Have you ever experienced that?? Is that a touch of social phobia??
Best wishes to everyone

  • I had the same problem and was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder in the summer. My psychiatrist put me on Prozac and it worked so well! It's a lot easier to be in social situations and talking on the phone.

Sounds like generalized anxiety disorder with performance anxiety, but you should see a psychologist for a diagnosis and treatment. Can be treated with simple cognitive behavior therapy with or without medications
