Is it normal college prof always bashes trump

I took environmental science as a general breadth class for college. Out of all my other choices which included womens writing, gender studies, juvenile first nations, etc, environmental science sounded to be the most bearable. So i took it. And every single class without fail, my professor makes a comment about how trump sucks and how republicans are bad people.
I have a hard time understanding why he would say these statements. Perhaps he just assumes the whole class agrees with him. But it's just inappropriate considering this class is about environmental science and I don't appreciate hearing about trump several times a class.

It's inappropriate for a teacher to be pushing their political views on their students.

    Even if they are right.

He's abusing his position of authority to push his political views. I wouldn't say it's normal, but unfortunately it's very common for college professors to do this sort of thing. It's so common in fact that it's been a bit of a stereotype about college professors for years, and years.

Sadly this is normal. Most collages are at least a little biased towards the left. Your professor shouldn't be allowed to make those statements, but chances are the rest of the faculty at the school probably doesn't care. That being said you should report it to whoever is in charge because it may be just that they haven't had reports about your professor's behavior and the people in charge may talk to the professor about it.

    2 subjects to avoid.
    Religion and politics.
    It's not cool.
I don't think it should be brought up in your setting.
    I have co-workers do it.
I don't need to get drawn into some debate.
I keep my issues to myself.
    Wish they'd do the same.
I could easily get into some big arguement.
    But that does no good.
    Sorry I have no solution.

It’s not unusual for professors to be liberals. And they use their position to try to program young people. It often works for a few years, until he person grows up and sees things from an independent thinker viewpoint. Good for you that you’re thinking for yourself and questioning authority figures trying to make you think one way or another.

It is all too common for colleges to be places of Marxist indoctrination and not higher learning now.

It's not right for him to do it, but it is normal. Profs are often very left wing and assume their students are the same.

A good teacher should be able to teach without dragging their personal opinions into everything. You should only hear them if you directly ask for them.

He is teaching you how to deal with all the snowflakes you'll encounter out in the real world who behave just like him.

  • Schools and teachers should be meant to educate, and help students grow as independent and thinking people.

The school should be a place for teaching facts. It should also present ideas, and teach students to come to conclusions via logical reasoning.

Bias, unprofessionalism, slant, and personal opinion being taught as fact have no place in any school system worth a damn.

Most schools, however, do have more influence from the left.

I just figure this teacher is another loud mouthed lefty. Although, I had a problem with one of my right leaning history books for being obviously slanted as well.

I can't remember what I voted, but I don't think it's normal that this bitter man is shoehorning politics into a lesson about environmental science.

It's out of place, and as you said, inappropriate.

A Right-Leaning History Book? Most Textbooks are made in Texas (which Liberals often say to try to "Disprove" the assertions of Left-Wing bias prevalent on TextBooks), yet the info that is dictated into them is presided by a Committee of California-Based Left Wingers.

I would be quite surprised to find an actual "Right-Wing" Book that wasn't created by a Religious based Organization for use in a Parochial school.

Who published this "Right-Wing Biased" textbook?

      • The publisher was probably Alpha Omega, or Abeka. Yes, it was a textbook from a Christian perspective.

I'm a Christian, but I still didn't care for the way they presented a lot of stuff.

I could tell pieces of the picture were missing, as they say, "History is written by the victors."

Every time I read it, it seemed that an agenda was being pushed on me.

        America could do no wrong.

Might be a bit more appropriate if it were a political type class but doesn't environmental studies talk about stuff like season changes, why the wind blows and other weather/climate stuff that no one really cares about?

One thing I have noticed in "Environmental Science", is that there is no logical discussion on "climate Change", no discussion about scientists and others who actually have a dissenting opinion about the idea of "Man-Made Climate Change".

It's more like propaganda than an actual discussion, and the ideals presented by the class are presented as if it's the Gospel Truth, and not simply a theory, which is a direct violation of the very principles that science is based on.

Is climate change covered in environmental science?
